If you are an adult citizen of the Republic of Lithuania and have Smart-ID or Mobile-ID, open a bank account online. Otherwise, please register for a visit to a branch after reading the requirements.

To open a bank account online, you must be a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania and at least 18 years of age, who has never been a customer of our bank before (an exception applies to customers who have a user ID but have never had a Swedbank account).

How does it work?

  1. Complete the online application and sign the agreement regarding daily banking services.
  2. Confirm your identity during a video call with a Swedbank consultant. The video call is available on working days: I–IV 08.45–16.45, V 08.45–15.45.
  3. We will review your request within 1-4 working days. You will be notified of the account opening by SMS and email.

You will need:

  • a valid passport or identity card of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania Not permitted documents: drivers license, Residence permit of the Republic of Lithuania, diplomatic passport;
  • qualified means of access: Smart-ID, Mobile-ID or an ID card with a valid e-signature certificate;
  • a computer, smartphone or tablet with a video camera and microphone;
  • a separate room where you can be alone and participate in a video call safely and undisturbed;
  • Google Chrome web browser.

In all other cases not mentioned above, you are welcome to open a personal bank account by visiting a bank branch.

You will need to present the following at the bank branch:

  • a valid identity document (passport of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, identity card or diplomatic passport of the Republic of Lithuania, passport of a citizen of a foreign country, identity card of a citizen of an EU Member State, a citizen of Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland or Switzerland, or a diplomatic passport of the above countries);
  • a document indicating a link to Lithuania (only for foreign nationals or stateless persons).

We will ask you to provide additional information or documents if necessary. Once all the necessary information and/or documents have been provided, we will normally make a decision on the account opening within 10 working days.

We may refuse to enter into business relationships with customers who:

If you already have a bank account but haven't used the Internet Bank or Swedbank app yet, you can access online banking remotely.

  1. Download a free Smart-ID App to your smart phone or tablet from Google Play, App Store or Huawei AppGallery.
  2. After the App is installed, open it and press “Register”. The whole process will take just a few minutes.

For a child, citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, aged 0 to 13 years (inclusive) a parent may open a bank account online, provided that he/she is a customer of Swedbank, has a bank account, has access to the online banking service, and uses a qualified log-in tool Smart-ID, Mobile-ID or a personal identity card with a valid e-signature certificate.

How does it work?

  1. Fill in the application form online to open an account for your child and sign the agreement regarding daily banking services.
  2. We will review your application within 1-4 working days and inform you about the opening of your child's account by SMS and email.

When completing the online application for opening an account, you will also be able to choose for your child to become a participant of the Swedbank Youth Programme, to receive the "Convenient" service plan, and, if he/she is older than 6 years old, a contactless payment card.

For children aged 7 and over with a Lithuanian identity document, you will also be able to create a Smart-ID account remotely.

In all other cases not mentioned above, you are welcome to open a bank account for a child aged 0 to 13 years (inclusive) by visiting a bank branch.

You will need to present the following at the bank branch:

  • a valid identity document (passport of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, identity card of the Republic of Lithuania or diplomatic passport, passport of a citizen of a foreign country, identity card of a citizen of an EU Member State or of a citizen of Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland, or Switzerland, or a diplomatic passport of the above-mentioned countries), for both yourself and your child (if the child has one);
  • the child's birth certificate, its extract or other proof of guardianship;
  • a document indicating your and/or your child's ties to Lithuania (only for foreign nationals).

In order for your child to become our customer, you will need to complete the Customer Questionnaire for Natural Persons.

We will ask you to provide additional information or documents if necessary. Once all the necessary information and/or documents have been provided, we will normally make a decision on the account opening within 10 working days.

We may refuse to enter into business relationships with customers who:

If your child is aged between 6 and 13 (inclusive), has a bank account, but has not yet used the Internet Bank or Swedbank app, you can order access to the Internet Bank for your child remotely.

  1. Download a free Smart-ID App to the child‘s smart phone or tablet from Google Play, App Store or Huawei AppGallery.
  2. After the App is installed, open it and press “Register”. First of all the child will have to complete all the specified actions of the registration process.
  3. Once your child's document has been successfully verified in the Smart-ID app, you will need to provide your consent as a parent If a child is represented by a guardian(s), Smart-ID account can only be created at a bank branch.. Once the information of the child's representatives has been verified, you will receive an agreement by email, which the parent will need to validate with their Smart-ID, Mobile-ID or ID card with a valid e-signature certificate.
  4. Registration will only take place with the approval of a parent and may be terminated in the event of an excessive delay.

Citizens of the Republic of Lithuania aged 14 or over can open an online account if:

  • they have never been a customer of our bank before;
  • they have a valid personal document issued in Lithuania: passport or ID card;
  • the one of parents or guardian(s) is (are) a Swedbank customer(s) and has (have) provided an online consent allowing the youth to open the account and manage the funds therein independently.

How does it work?

You can open an account on your own at a bank branch if you already have an identity document (passport or ID card) and have the consent of one of your parents or guardian(s).

If you don't have an identity document (passport or ID card), or if your parents or guardians refuse to give you consent, you can only open a bank account if you arrive at a bank branch together with one of your parents or guardian(s).

You will need to present the following at the bank branch:

  • a valid identity document (passport of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, identity card or diplomatic passport of the Republic of Lithuania, passport of a citizen of a foreign country, identity card of a citizen of an EU Member State, a citizen of Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland or Switzerland, or a diplomatic passport of the above countries);
  • a birth certificate, its extract or other proof of guardianship;
  • a document, indicating links to Lithuania (only for foreign nationals).

Give consent for a youth to open an account, dispose of funds and enter into other agreements independently can one of his parents or guardian(s).

  • If you are a Swedbank customer, the consent for a youth can be given quickly and easily online.
  • If you are not a Swedbank customer, you can provide your consent for a youth by visiting a bank branch. Please familiarise yourself with the requirements for opening an account for a youth and book a visit to the bank branch of your choice.
  • If you have a bank account but haven’t used the Internet Bank or Swedbank app yet, get consent from one of your parents or guardian(s) and order access to the Internet Bank remotely.
  • If you already have access to the Internet Bank but want to change your transfer limits and user rights, get consent from one of your parents or guardian(s) and make the changes remotely.
Get access online
  1. Download the free Smart-ID app to your smartphone or tablet from Google Play, App Store or Huawei AppGallery.
  2. Install the app, open it and click the "Register" button. You will first need to complete the specified steps in the registration process.
  3. Once your document has been successfully verified in the Smart-ID app, you'll need to get your parent's In the case of guardianship, you can only register a Smart-ID account if you visit a bank branch together with your guardian(s). consent. Once the information of your representatives has been verified, your parents will receive the agreement by email, which will need to be verified by one of them with their Smart-ID, Mobile-ID or ID card with a valid e-signature certificate.
  4. Registration will be subject to confirmation by a parent and may be cancelled in the event of excessive delays.

Account switching service is a service provided to a customer, where the customer’s payment account as well as all related services, such as periodical credit transfers, etc. is/are transferred from one payment service provider to another.

  • Periodical credit transfers (the bank, at your request, will transfer periodical credit transfer agreements concluded with the previous payment service provider).
  • The balance in the account (the old payment service provider will, at your request, transfer the balance in your account with the old payment service provider to the account opened with the new payment service provider’s bank).

You will also be able to receive information about the following:

  • Agreements on automatic payment of e-invoices and requests/applications to receive e-invoices (the old payment service provider will provide the bank with information about agreements signed with you on automatic payment of e-invoices and requests to receive e-invoices).
  • Periodic income (at your request, the bank may provide a list or payers that periodically transfer money to you and/or may notify the payers about the change in the account or provide you with a sample application form for notification of the third parties about changes in the account).
  • SEPA direct debit (in case where the service is provided in the bank, the bank, at your request, may be provide a list of SEPA direct debit recipients and/or notify the beneficiaries about the change in the account or provide you with a sample application form for notification of the third parties of the changes in the account).
  • The Bank will help you carry out the procedure of account transfer. This procedure will be provided free of charge.
  • Visit any Swedbank customer service office and complete an documentapplication form requesting to provide you with an account transfer services. If you wish to transfer an account of joint owners from another payment service provider, the bank must be provided with a request from each joint owner to transfer the account from another payment service provider

Services will be transferred no earlier than within 13 bank business days from your request to provide you with an account transfer services, i.e.:

  • The Bank will forward your request to transfer the account to the old payment service provider within 2 bank business days.
  • The old payment service provider will no later than within 5 business days from the receipt of the aforementioned request notify the bank about the services it renders to you and the services that might be transferred, it will terminate the provision of services from the date specified in the request, will transfer the balance and close the account, if it is provided in your request.
  • Having received information from the old payment service provider, the Bank will, within 5 bank business days or from the date specified in your request start providing the transferred services, will send off letters to payers and/or beneficiaries, if this is specified in your request.

Please be aware that the Bank will charge a fee specified in the Bank’s price list for services and transactions for sending notifications to payers and/or beneficiaries by registered mail (if indicated in your request). You can find the fees charged for banking services and transactions here.

It is important that you know that you can lodge a claim regarding the Bank’s actions when providing you with the account transfer services. If you are discontent with the Bank’s response, you have the right to address the court in accordance with the procedure established in laws as well as to apply to the institution that examines consumers and finance market participants’ disputes out of court, namely, the Bank of Lithuania, address Žalgirio g. 90, LT-09303 Vilnius, within 1 (one) year from the date of address to the Bank.   • 1 Service plan is applied to all customer’s accounts in Bank.

  • 1 This Service Plan may be ordered only by those clients (natural persons), who receive salary to their account with the Bank. We consider as salary: the remuneration for work, income received according to authorship contracts or other contracts and other regular earnings. If the salary to the client, who has ordered the Service Plan, is not transferred for 3 months in a row, the provision of the Service Plan “Convenient” for clients receiving salary shall be discontinued from the next month and the client will be charged at standard fees for services and operations of Swedbank.
  • 2 The fee shall be charged per each calendar month and debited on 1 – 15 next month for the previous month. The fee shall be paid irrespective of the use of services covered by the Service Plan. A monthly fee for the first month when the client chooses the Service Plan and for the last month when the client refuses the chosen Service Plan shall be calculated proportionately to the number of days during which the terms and conditions of the chosen Service Plan were applied to the client. The Service Plan is applied to all accounts of the client with the Bank.
  • 3 The Service Plan shall include one held debit card (Maestro Basic or Contactless Debit MasterCard). The Bank, at its own discretion, will choose and include in the Service Plan one of the above specified debit cards held by the client (on the client’s request, other held debit card may be included in the Service Plan), which later will be renewed replacing it by the card specified in the Service Plan. The client’s debit card included in the Service Plan shall not be eligible for any other discounts, unless the Bank specifies otherwise.
  • 4 The renewed card may be delivered by the decision of Swedbank, AB, i.e. without a separate customer’s request.
  • 5 Information about the ATM network BANKOMATAS.LT can be found at www.bankomatas.lt.
  • 6 In the case of withdrawal of more than EUR 580 per month, a fee of 0.5%, min EUR 0.5 shall be charged on the amount exceeding EUR 580.
  • 7 The maximum permissible amount of cash withdrawal at all ATMs is EUR 10 000 per calendar month (this is the total limit for cash withdrawal at all ATMs applicable to all accounts of the same customer and the cards linked to these accounts).
  • 8 The maximum permissible amount of cash depositing at ATMs of Swedbank, AB is EUR 7 500 per calendar month. This is the total limit applicable to all accounts of the same customer and the cards linked to these accounts.
  • General terms and conditions of application of the fees of the Service Plan:

Instant credit transfers shall only be executed to those banks registered in Lithuania which have joined the Instant Payment Scheme.
  • 5 The Service Plan “Convenient” for the participants in the Youth Programme Plan “One+”, the Service Plan “Convenient” for the participants in the Youth Programme Plans “Two+” and “Three+” and the Service Plan “Convenient” for the participants in the Youth Programme Plan “Four+” may include one payment card of the Youth Programme held by the customer. The Bank, at its own discretion, shall choose and include in the Service Plan one of the debit cards held by the customer, which will be later renewed replacing it with the card specified in the Service Plan. The customer’s debit card included in the Service Plan shall not be eligible for any other discounts, unless the Bank specifies otherwise.
  • 6 The fee shall not apply to the issuance of a new, renewed or replacement card if the card is missing or has been lost or upon the customer’s request. A renewed card may be sent by post by the decision of Swedbank, AB, i.e. without a separate customer’s request.
  • 7 Information about partners which are providing cash out service for cards issued by “Swedbank”, AB is submitted in the website of the bank www.swedbank.lt.
  • 8 In case of withdrawal of more than EUR 290 per month, a fee of 0.5% shall be charged on the amount exceeding EUR 290. The fee shall be debited on the 15th of the following month. The maximum allowable cash withdrawal amount per calendar month is EUR 10 000 (this is a general limit applicable to all accounts of the same customer and the cards linked to these accounts).
  • 9 Maximum permissible amount of EUR 7 500 per calendar month for cash depositing in ATMs of Swedbank, AB shall apply. This is a general limit applicable to all accounts of the same customer and the cards linked to these accounts.
  • 10 If the customer does not have a smart device and/or is unable to create Smart-ID account, a PIN generator may be issued at no extra charge. The PIN generator can be issued to participants of Youth Programme plans "One+", "Two+" and "Three+".
  • General terms and conditions of application of the Service Plan fees:
  • The terms used in the Fees shall have the meaning assigned to them in Swedbank’s Services and Operations Fees. The fees shall only apply to Youth Programme participants. From the moment of losing the Youth Programme participant’s status the customer shall be charged at standard fees for Swedbank’s services and operations.
  • A customer may only choose one Service Plan at a time.
  • If a customer chooses a different Service Plan offered by the Bank it shall be considered that the customer has refused the Service Plan “Convenient” for the participants in the Youth Programme Plan “One+” or the Service Plan “Convenient” for the participants in the Youth Programme Plans “Two+” and “Three+”, or the Service Plan “Convenient” for the participants in the Youth Programme Plan “Four+” (depending on the Service Plan that was applied to the customer), and also a monthly fee for participation in the Youth Programme Plan “Four+” shall no longer be charged on the customer who participated in the Youth Programme Plan “Four+”.

  • 1 The Service Plan “Convenient” for Senior Programme participants shall apply to the participants in the Senior Programme and all customer’s accounts in the Bank.
  • 2 The fee shall be charged for each calendar month and debited on the 1st–15th of the following calendar month for the previous month. The fee shall be charged irrespective of the use of services covered by the Service Plan.   • 3 Instant credit transfer shall mean the SEPA instant credit transfer in the amount not exceeding EUR 15 000 and executed in accordance with the rules of the Instant Payment Scheme applicable within the European Union. Instant credit transfers shall only be executed to those banks registered in Lithuania which have joined the Instant Payment Scheme.
  • 4 The Service Plan shall include one debit card held by the customer. The effective standard card fees, except for those specified in points 4 and 5, shall apply to the customer’s debit card included in the Service Plan.
  • 5 The fee shall not apply to the issuance of a new, renewed or replacement card if the card is missing or has been lost or upon the customer’s request. A renewed card may be sent by post by the decision of Swedbank, AB, i.e. without a separate customer’s request.
  • 6 Information about the ATM network BANKOMATAS.LT can be found at www.bankomatas.lt.

  • 10 If the customer does not have a smart device and/or upon the customer’s request, an identification code generator may be issued instead of Smart-ID at no extra charge.
  • 11 A discount shall apply when insuring real estate, home contents and civil liability or real estate and home contents. A 10% discount shall apply when insuring real estate and civil liability or just real estate. Insurance services are provided by Swedbank P&C Insurance AS Lithuanian Branch through the representative Swedbank, AB.
  • General terms and conditions of application of the Service Plan fees:
  • The terms used in the Fees shall have the meaning assigned to them in Swedbank’s Services and Operations Fees. The fees of the Senior Programme and respectively the Service Plan “Convenient” shall start to apply after the customer becomes the participant in the Senior Programme. Having filed an application with the Bank, the customer may at any time refuse this plan or choose another Service Plan offered by the Bank.
  • The Service Plan “Convenient” for Senior Programme participants shall only apply to the participants in the Senior Programme.
  • From the moment of losing the Senior Programme participant’s status or refusing the chosen Service Plan the customer shall be charged at standard fees for Swedbank’s services and operations.
  • The Senior Programme participant’s status shall be considered to be lost in the circumstances specified in the section “End of participation in the Senior Programme” of the General Terms and Conditions of the Senior Programme. A customer may only choose one Service Plan at a time.
  • If a customer chooses a different Service Plan offered by the Bank it shall be considered that the customer has refused the Service Plan “Convenient” for Senior Programme participants.
  • Services not covered by the Service Plan “Convenient” for Senior Programme participants shall be charged at standard fees for services and operations.
